Extended System Configuration Data
Standard used by the system’s BIOS to store information about plug and play devices present on the PC. During POST this program verifies the plug and play devices available on the PC and store information about them on CMOS memory (configuration memory) in an area reserved for this. Then Windows reads this area in order to detect the plug and play devices installed on the system.
