Wake-Up On LAN
This feature allows the computer to be turned on from a command issued through the network. This allows network administrators to remotely turn on computers in order to execute maintenance tasks and then turning them off. This maintenance procedure can be automated, making the life of network administrators easier. Without this feature the administrator would have to manually turn on and off each computer in order to make their maintenance.
In order to work, the network card and the motherboard have to support this feature. The network card should be connected to the motherboard using a small three-wire cable installed on a connector called WOL.
