Reduced Write Current

Hard disk drives inner sectors have a smaller physical size compared to the hard drive outer sectors. As a result, the electrical current used by the read/write head must be reduced when data is stored in the hard disk’s inner sectors, or the electromagnetic field that is generated will corrupt data stored in the sectors nearby. Nowadays this is done automatically by the hard drive, but on the first hard drives it was necessary to configure the reduced write parameter manually, i.e. from which track on the writing current should be reduced to avoid the described problem.
