Super Video Graphics Array

SVGA is the name given to any video card that is capable of running video standards above VGA and that keeps fully compatible with VGA standard. It is the standard found on all video cards nowadays since they are capable of presenting resolutions such as 800x600, 1024x768 and 1280x1224.

Super VGA video cards use a 15-pin female D-shell connector.

In order to work you will need a video monitor compatible with the desired resolution and scanning type (interlaced or non-interlaced). For example, you cannot run 1600x1200 resolution if your video monitor doesn’t support it, even if your video card supports this resolution.

You can install VGA (i.e. 640x480) video monitors with Super VGA video cards, but you will need to keep the resolution at 640x480.
