Logical Unit Number
LUN is an identification number used by SCSI devices. Each SCSI device needs to use a unique identification number when connected to a SCSI host. Numbers from 0 to 7 can be used with 8-bit SCSI hosts and numbers from 0 to 14 can be used when using a 16-bit SCSI host. The booting hard disk drive must use ID (LUN) 0. A second hard drive must use LUN 1 and so on. LUN configuration is done on the peripheral thru a switch or jumper.
