The Overclocked Radeon X800 GTO from GeCube

Even though we reviewed this so-called “special edition” which is overclocked, GeCube sells the same board without overclocking. The regular model is called GC-RX800GTO3-D3, which also has 256 MB memory. GeCube has also a 128 MB version, called GC-RX800GTO-C3. All Radeon X800 GTO models from GeCube use their “Uni-Wise Fan System”, which is a copper-based active heatsink with heat-pipe technology.

We disassembled the video card heatsink to take a look, see Figure 4.

This video card uses 2 ns GDDR3 memory chips from Infineon, which can run up to 1 GHz, according to the manufacturer. Since this video card accesses the memory at 1 GHz, there is no room for memory overclocking inside the memory’s specifications. But of course you can try overclock it over its specs.

This video card has one VGA connector and one DVI connector, allowing you to use two video monitors on your PC. The board comes with one DVI-to-VGA adaptor, so you can transform this DVI output into standard VGA.

On Figure 6 you can see all cables and adaptors that come with this video card.

This video card doesn’t come with any game.

Before going to our benchmarking results, let’s recap this video card main features.
