Seasonic is expanding its Platinum series of power supplies with the launch of the following models: 400 W, 460 W, 520 W, 660 W, 760 W, and 1,200 W. The first three models don’t have any kind of fan, being products targeted to users who want to build the quietest computer possible. All units of this family come equipped with a full modular cabling system, a synchronous design in the secondary with DC-DC converters for the +5 V and +3.3 V outputs installed directly on the modular cabling system, and Japanese capacitors.
As an additional feature, all of these units are equipped with a selector switch that enables users to choose between traditional fan control (S2FC) and semi-fanless mode (S3FC). This sophisticated S3FC design ensures that the fan will only start spinning at loads greater than 30% of the maximum load.
In addition, Seasonic has upgraded the X-400 and X-460 fanless models from 80 Plus Gold to 80 Plus Platinum certification.
