By Cássio Lima on November 29, 2011 - 6:57 PM

Seagate has announced the second generation of their Momentus XT series of hybrid hard drives. Seagate’s Momentus XT drives combine the low cost of hard disk drives with the high performance of SSD units. These disks feature a technology that actively monitors the frequently-used applications and data files and copies them into the SSD for quick access.

According to Seagate, the new Momentus XT drives are nearly 70 percent faster than the prior Momentus drives and up to three times faster than a traditional hard disk drive.

In the table below, we compare the second generation of the Momentus XT series with the previous one.
