Patriot has updated their Pyro series of SSD drives to include synchronous memory (the original Pyro series uses asynchronous memory), which performs much better when dealing with incompressible data.

The new series is dubbed Pyro SE, and like the original Pyro series, is comprised of 60 GB, 120 GB, and 240 GB models, features a SandForce SF-2281 controller, a SATA-600 interface, support for TRIM, and provides maximum read and write speeds of up to 550 MB/s and 520 MB/s, respectively.

Information on pricing was not revealed.
