Panasonic has just launched what they’re claiming to be the world's lightest 12.1" laptop with an integrated DVD drive, the Toughbook S9. The portable weighs only 3 lbs (1.36 kg), features a 2.4 GHz Core i5-520M CPU, 2 GB of RAM, a 320 GB hard drive, a DVD writer, Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11a/b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, a battery that provides up to 11 hours of operation, and optional items like mobile broadband and fingerprint reader. Besides being light, the laptop is also resistant. Thanks to its magnesium alloy chassis it can survive falls of 30” (76 cm) and it is designed to withstand more than 220 lbs (100 kg) of pressure. The Panasonic Toughbook S9 has a suggested price of USD 2,499.
