OCZ has announced their first SSD drives based on the Indilinx Everest controller, which is a dual-core part. The Octane will be available in two versions: one with SATA-600 interface (Octane) and one with SATA-300 interface (Octane-S2).

The Octane models feature synchronous memory and provide maximum read and write speeds of up to 560 MB/s and 400 MB/s, respectively. The Octane-S2 models, on the other hand, use asynchronous memory and provide maximum read and write speeds of up to 275 MB/s and 265 MB/s, respectively.

The Octane family has 512 MB of DRAM cache and provides support for TRIM, NCQ, and AES encryption. It will be available November 1 in models ranging from 128 GB to 1 TB capacities.
