Matsushita to start production of BD-ROM
By Rodrigo Chia on May 3, 2005 - 2:39 PM

Japanese giant Matsushita will start, through its Panasonic brand, operating a pilot production line for Blu-ray Disc (BD-ROM) replication in its disc manufacturing facility in the U.S. city of Torrance. Blu-ray, which currently offers capacities of up to 50 GB, is fighting the HD DVD group to replace current DVD video discs. The Blu-ray Disc line will begin full pilot production of single-layer BD-ROM discs by the end of this month and dual-layer BD-ROM discs in December.
