Intel and Nokia push WiMAX

Intel and Nokia are partnering in a move to accelerate development and adoption of WiMAX (IEEE 802.16e) technology. The companies will colaborate on areas such as mobile clients, network infrastructure, industry-enabling efforts and market development. WiMAX promises transfer rates of up to 70 Mbps and the 802.16e version, which is expected to be standardized later this year, will offer increased portability of broadband Internet access.
