A group of 27 major companies this week announced the Enhanced Wireless Consortium (EWC), which will try to accelerate the development of the IEEE 802.11n standard, currently awaiting an agreement between the WWiSe and TGn Sync groups. The members published a specification to ensure interoperability of next-generation wireless products such as PCs, handhelds and networking systems. The 802.11n standard is expected to allow data transfer speeds of up to 600 Mbps.
