CES 2009: MSI Demos U115 Hybrid Netbook
By Cássio Lima on January 7, 2009 - 5:49 PM

During CES 2009 MSI demo’ed a competitor to the popular ASUS Eee PC, named U115. This netbook (mini-notebook) is based on Menlow mobile platform (Atom series Z5xx processor - the exact model has not been disclosed –, US15W chipset, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth technology), has a 10” display (16:9 ratio), weights only 2.2 lbs (1 Kg) and has both SSD drive (8 GB or 16 GB) and SATA hard drive (120 GB or 160 GB), which can be disabled in order to save battery. Speaking of battery, U115 features a nine-cell battery lasting up to 12 hours (if the SATA hard drive is disabled). The operating system comes installed on the SSD drive (so operating system load is faster compared to a normal SATA drive). U115 also has three USB ports, memory card reader (XD/SD/MMC/MS), embedded 1.3 Mpixel webcam, supports up to 2 GB RAM and measures 10.24” x 7” (26 cm x 18 cm - W x D). No word on pricing and availability.
