AMD Unveils new Opteron Models

AMD today announced availability of new AMD Opteron processor models in both highly efficient (68 watts) and mainstream (95 watt) thermal envelopes. The new models are 1218 HE, 2218 HE and 8218 HE and will cost, respectively, USD 430, USD 610 and USD 1,340. With at only 68 watts maximum thermal design power, they are ideal for customers looking to reduce power and cooling bills. They also feature AMD PowerNow! technology, which is designed for reduced system level energy consumption.

AMD has also unveiled the Opteron models 2220 and 8220 (2.8 GHz), available in the 95-watt maximum thermal design power. Suggested price: USD 700 abd USD 1,500, respectively.
