AMD Showcases Zacate Processor

During this week, AMD showcased their upcoming low-power processor targeted for netbooks that will come to compete with Intel’s Atom. Codenamed Zacate, this new AMD processor (or “APU”, Accelerated Processor Unit, in the AMD lingo) is based on Bobcat architecture, features two cores, and has an integrated DirectX 11 graphics engine and DDR3 memory controller, with a TDP of only 18 W. In the pictures below, you can see the Zacate CPU compared to a penny. According to AMD, the Zacate processor will reach the market next year.
