AMD has launched a new version of its quad-core desktop processor Phenom 9600. The Phenom 9600 "Black Edition" will sell for the same price as the normal Phenom 9600. According to AMD, the launch is a 'goal to have the most accessible quad-core processors on the market'. The 2.3GHz CPU has its clock multiplier unlocked, meaning a better overclocking capability, and tunable performance. The brand 'Phenom' replaces Athlon 64 as the top-of-line CPU from AMD.
