AMD launched its new platform, code-named "Spider". The platform is made up of AMD Phenom quad-core processors, ATI Radeon HD 3800 Series graphics processors, AMD 7-Series chipsets with CrossFireX and AMD OverDrive software. The platform offers high-definition video and high-definition gaming. Pat Moorhead, vice president of marketing at AMD, reckon AMD 'bridge the gap between advanced home theatre PCs and the monster gaming rigs'. 'We're trying to bring those two worlds together', he said. Spider was designed to be energy efficient and to operate in a quieter environment.
