AMD announced today the launch of Opteron 2419 EE. This new six-core processor works internally at 1.8 GHz, has 6 MB of L3 cache, allows SMP with two processors, supports AMD-V virtualization technology and has an ACP (Average Power Consumption; this is a new metric AMD is using to indicate the real power consumption of their processors targeted to the server market. It is important to not confuse ACP with TDP – Thermal Design Power –, which indicates the processor power thermal dissipation and is used to choose the appropriate kind of cooler) of 40 W. Opteron 2419 EE is priced at USD 989 (1,000-unit).
