Epson develops first OLED print head

Epson last week announced the development of a print head using an organic light-emitting diode (OLED) source. In tests conducted with prototype printers, printout quality was equivalent or better than the produced by conventional laser models, according to the company. Epson said that the technology will eventually lead to smaller and faster equipment while still allowing higher resolutions.
