VIA unveils 26-port Ethernet controller

VIA has announced a layer 2+ 26-port switching Ethernet controller called Atlantic VT6528. Aimed at small to medium sized commercial networks, the chip supports 24 10/100 and two Gigabit ports. It features Advanced Packet Classifier for implementing 256-entry deep access control list for packet filtering. Other features include by-port egress/ingress bandwidth control, broadcast storm filtering, 16-bit PIO host interface with three DMA channels, HOL blocking prevention, 802.3ad aggregation and advanced congestion control.
