Dolby Labs announces TrueHD audio

Dolby Laboratories has announced a lossless audio technology called TrueHD, designed to complement high-definition optical disc formats, such as HD DVD and Blu-ray, and promising performance correspondent to the highest-resolution studio masters currently available. The standard incorporates higher bit rates, additional channels, enhanced stereo mix support and metadata functionalities, including dynamic range control and dialogue normalization.
