NEC has developed a mobile router that enables seamless broadband communication from high-speed vehicles such as train and cars through the employment of wireless LAN and 3G networks. In practice, this would allow a person inside a car to connect a notebook to both WLAN access points and 3G base stations when travelling at up to 124 miles per hour. NEC said though that actual products using the technology will not be available for a few years.
