Seagate Launches SATA-600 Hard Disk
By Cássio Lima on September 21, 2009 - 4:02 PM

Seagate has launched the world’s first SATA-600 hard disk targeted to desktop, Barracuda XT (ST32000641AS). This new 2 TB disk makes use of four 500 GB platters, works at 7200 rpm, supports NCQ technology, has 64 MB of buffer, average time seek of 4.16 ms and is backward compatible with SATA-150 and SATA-300 standards. By using Seatools utility users can reduce Barracuda XT storage capacity (afterwards, 2 TB is a big amount!) to increase its performance, as doing so data will be written on the outer tracks of the disk, where they are accessed faster. Barracuda XT has a suggested price tag of USD 299.
