AMD Launches Athlon II X4 Processors

If it is not possible to compete with Intel in performance, AMD has figured out another way to face its rival: price. The company launched today two quad-core processors costing less than USD 130. Just to let you know, the cheapest quad-core processor from Intel (Core 2 Quad Q8200S – 2.33 GHz) is priced at USD 213 (1,000-unit). The new Athlon II X4 620 (2.6 GHz) and 630 (2.8 GHz) processors are manufactured using 45-nm process, have 2 MB of L2 cache, 4 GHz HyperTransport bus and a TDP of 95 W. Athlon II X4 620 has a suggested price of USD 99, while the Athlon II X4 630 is priced at USD 122.
