AMD Launches “Istanbul” Opteron Processor

AMD has officially launched its six-core Opteron processor codename “Istanbul”. This new processor is manufactured under 45-nm process technology, is available in 2.2 GHz, 2.4 GHz and 2.6 GHz clock configurations, has 6 MB L3 cache, 3 MB L2 cache (512 KB per core), an integrated DDR2 memory controller, is compatible with socket F platform, has a TDP of 75 W, HyperTransport 3.0 bus and allows SMP with up to 8 processors.
