ASUS has just introduced SDRW-08D1S-U, a very slim external DVD writer. Available in black or silver colors, this device measures 6.15" x 5.54" x 0.8" or 156.4 mm  x 140.8 mm x 21 mm (H x W x W), weights 0.9 lb or 412 g (0.95 lb or 435 g with stand), can be placed vertically or horizontally, has a USB 2.0 interface and 2 MB buffer. On the table below you can see write and read speeds for the supported medias.
