Paired with Dragon platform launch, AMD has unveiled its new Phenom processor generation, named Phenom II. The main difference between Phenom and Phenom II processors is basically manufacturing process. While Phenom II is built in 45-nm process, Phenom is built in 65-nm process. So Phenom II can achieve higher clocks, has a lower power consumption and has a lot more transistor than Phenom processors from previous generation (just to let you know, Phenom II has 758 million transistors, while Phenom has 450 million transistors). According to AMD Phenom II is 20% faster than Phenom processor from previous generation. Two Phenom II X4 (four cores) has been launched, as you can see on the table below.
Model | Internal Clock | TDP | L3 Cache | Socket | Price |
920 | 3 GHz | 125 W | 6 MB | AM2+ | USD 275 |
940 | 2.8 GHz | 125 W | 6 MB | AM2+ | USD 235 |
