Hynix Introduces 7 Gbps GDDR5 Memory Chips

Hynix Semiconductor has announced its newest GDDR5 memory chips that operates at speed of 7 Gbps, which is 40% improved compared to the traditional 5 Gbps GDDR5. These new Hynix GDDR5 chips are built on 54 nm silicon fabrication technology and are powered with 1.35 V (instead of 1.5 V like the actual GDDR5 chips). Hynix will start volume production in the first half of 2009.
