After the launch of Radeon HD 4850 AMD/ATI is now rolling out their new high-end graphics chip, Radeon HD 4870. This new GPU works at 750 MHz, access its 512 MB of GDDR5 memory at 900 MHz (real) throughout a 256-bit memory interface and consumes up to 160 W. The new GDDR5 memories are capable of transferring four data per clock cycle, so this video card memories achieve a maximum transfer rate of 115.2 GB/s, as if the memories were running at 3.6 GHz.
