Intel launched a new Xeon series allowing symmetric multiprocessing (SMP) up to 32 CPUs. The new Xeon 7300 series (a.k.a Tigerton) is based on the Core microarchitecture and carrying quad-core technology. Six new Xeon processors were launched inside the 7300 series, as you can see on the table below. All new quad-core Xeon 7300 models operate on a 1,066 MHz front-side bus featuring a new point-to-point bus architecture, which allows each processor to have its own connection directly to the chipset.
