HP released its first DVD burner with LightScribe technology allowing users to burn labels directly on the disc. The feature, which requires compatible media with a thin dye coating, was previously available only pre-installed in HP PCs. With LightScribe, the user records data first and then turn the disc to let the driver´s laser etch images and text on its surface. The DVD Writer 640i offers common performance writing dual-layer DVDs at up to 2.4x, single-layer DVDs at up to 16x and CDs at up to 40x. It is sold for USD 129.99. | |
