Hitachi announced immediate availability of a new 60 GB model in its 1.8-inch Travelstar lineup aimed at multimedia devices. The C4K60 features a standard IDE interface and spins at 4200 rpm with 15 ms average seek time. The drive's shock protection is offered at 500 Gs operating and 1200 Gs non-operating. According to the company, once properly encased in a device, it could safely sustain a three-foot drop onto a modestly-padded floor.
