NETGEAR announces MIMO products

LAN NETGEAR has announced two new wireless products based on Airgo´s True MIMO technology. The MIMO G Wireless Router (WGM124) and Wireless PC Card (WGM511) promise up to eight times the speed and coverage of standard 802.11g devices. The router has three MIMO (Multiple Input, Multiple Output) antennas and comes with NETGEAR’s Smart Wizard for easy set-up with automatic detection and connection to an Internet service provider. It offers a double firewall with Network Address Translation (NAT) and Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI), along with Wireless Encryption Protocol (WEP) 64, 128–bit encryption and Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA, Pre-Shared Key). The products will be available this month in Japan and soon in the USA.

D-Link launches 802.11g MIMO router

LAN D-Link launched a new line of wireless products called Super G with Multiple Input, Multiple Output (MIMO) antenna technology. According to the company, the DI-624M router with Smart Antenna tech allows the signal to focus towards the target device recipient and to propagate further ranges in that direction, delivering performance with up to eight times effective power over traditional 802.11g/b wireless networks. Operating ranges are 328 ft. (indoors) and 1312 ft. (outdoors). The line also includes the DWL-G650M notebook adapter. Suggested retail prices are USD 149,99 (router) and USD 99,99 (card).

Tornado introduces WLAN Value Series

LAN Tornado (Allied Data) introduced a new low-cost line of WLAN products. Initially the Value Series consists of the following items: Wireless LAN 802.11g 54 Mbps PCI card for notebooks (Tornado 121); Wireless LAN 802.11g 54 Mbps PCI card for desktops (Tornado 122); and a all-in-one Wireless LAN 802.11g 54 Mbps access point (for wireless network), broadband router (for cable or ADSL), 4-port Ethernet switch (for wired network) and built-in firewall (Tornado 140).

D-Link ships GamerLounge routers

D-Link recently announced what it calls the industry's first gaming router. The GamerLounge wireless router (DGL-4300) features GameFuel technologies, a new packet processing engine integrated directly on the router, giving online games precedence for bandwidth over other Internet applications, email and FTP transfers. The device has four Gigabit Ethernet with 802.11g wireless connectivity. Suggested price is USD 179.99. D-Link has also released a wired version (DGL-4100) priced at USD 149.99.

Wi-Fi/Cellular products are certified

LAN The Wi-Fi Alliance announced the first round of Wi-Fi certified products providing both Wi-Fi and cellular communications. Of the products, only the HP iPAQ Pocket PC h6315, the Intermec 760 Mobile Computer and the SanDisk Connect Wi-Fi SD Card are available now. The Nokia 9500 Communicator and the Motorola MPx are scheduled to arrive until the end of the year.
