The ECS’s Wi-Bridge is a small adapter that easily plugs into the TV (or any screens supporting HDMI) via HDMI connection and receives media (video, audio, photo) in up to 1080p (1920x1280) resolution from your PC or laptop wirelessly. ECS Wi-Bridge can cover a range of up to 100 feet (30 meters). It features one USB 2.0 port for keyboard or mouse to control playback effortlessly, one HDMI 1.3 port, 256 MB of DDR2 memory, and 256 MB of flash memory. This device is a great option for those users who want to play films from their PC on their TVs, but don’t want to use cables. According to ECS, the Wi-Bridge will come to the market in the Q1 costing USD 80.

The next step in wireless connectivity will be the IEEE 802.11ac standard, also known as 5G WiFi, which started to be developed one year ago. The goal of this forthcoming standard is to achieve transfer rates in the gigabit range. Using the 5 GHz band and three antennae, Buffalo was able to demonstrate this connection at a real data transfer rate (throughput) of 800 Mbps, with a theoretical maximum transfer rate of over 1.3 Gbps. According to this manufacturer, they will be able to release their first IEEE 802.11ac router, named AirStation WZR-1750H, by the end of the year, in the USD 200-250 price range. This router will also be backwards-compatible with IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n standards and will have five Gigabit Ethernet ports.  click to enlarge

Leadtek, a well-known video card manufacturer, has increased its product offer with the launch of WinFast Killer Xeno Pro network card. It is a Gigabit Ethernet card based on PCI Express x1 interface featuring 128 MB DDR2 (266 MHz) and that is claimed to provide a better performance in online applications, including games.
