Transcend introduces a classic USB 2.0 Flash Drive, the JetFlash V90C with a capacity of 2 GB. It is cased in a metal body and adorned with a fiberglass woven pattern. It comes with a practical key chain; thus it can be easily stored in a pocket or bag. The JetFlash V90C measures 33.8 mm x 13.1 mm x 4.5 mm and weights a  7g. It includes eight functions: AutoLogin, PC-Lock, Favorites, Secret-Zip, E-mail, DataBackup, My JetFlash, and Online update.

Plextor Launches 5.25" Dual-Bay Solution

Plextor has announced the PX-DB608AL solution, a slim line optical drive solution for desktop PCs. The 'dual-bay' Plextor PX-DB600 features two optical slim line drives which fits into the space of just one 5.25 " drive.

This new product comes with the PX-DB600 dual bay unit with 2 slim line slots, and One PX-608AL slim line slot loaded optical drive which is capable of Write DVD+R 8x, DVD+R DL 4x, DVD-R 8x, DVD-R DL 4x, DVD+RW 8x, DVD-RW 6x, DVD-RAM 5x, CD-R 24x, CD-RW 24x and read at DVD-ROM 8x, CD-ROM 24x

The Plextor PX-DB608AL solution will be available in April 2007.

Stardom introduces what it claims to be the world first and smallest 2.5" SATA RAID. The SR2760-2S-S2 -2.5" SATA RAID module not only unites RAID 1 technology and enables to accommodate 2 x 2.5" SATA hard drives, but conforms perfectly to the dimension of a standard 3.5" SATA hard drive.

It's also equipped with drive trays for the enclosed drives to be removed conveniently when necessary. It performs the transferring rate over to 79 MB/second under RAID 0.

SanDisk Announces 8 GB SDHC

SanDisk introduced an 8 GB SD High Capacity (SDHC) card, the highest capacity now available in the SD format. The new card holds more than 4,000 high-resolution pictures, as many as 2,000 digital songs or up to 15 hours of MPEG 4 video2.

The 8GB SDHC card will come bundled with a SanDisk MicroMate USB 2.0 reader. It will be available in April in the United States, Europe, the Middle East and Africa. In the United States, it will carry a manufacturer's suggested retail price of USD 189.99.

SanDisk Launches 2.5" SATA SSD

SanDisk unveiled its solid state drive (SSD) product line for the portable computer market with the 32 GB, 2.5-inch Serial ATA interface model. The new SSD is compatible with most mainstream notebook designs.

SanDisk SSDs deliver 2 million hours mean time between failures (MTBF), approximately six times more than notebook hard disks. With no moving parts, SanDisk SSDs are also much less likely to fail when a notebook computer is dropped or exposed to extreme temperatures.

In notebook computers, data moves to and from an SSD more than 100 times faster than data moving to and from a hard disk. The new model sustained read rate of 67 MB/s. The SSDs have also minimal power requirements: just 0.9 watts during active operation.

It is available now to computer manufacturers with initial pricing of $350 USD for large volume orders.

LG Showcases Portable DVD drive GSA-E50

LG will showcase at CeBIT 2007 the GSA-E50, an external Super-Multi Portable DVD drive. It comes with USB BUS Power and AC adapter for high speed. The drive has up to 8x DVD+R, DVD-R write speeds in addition to 8.5 GB double layer recording and 5x for DVD-RAM. It will be also available in a lightscribe version, dubbed GSA-E50L. They will be launched first in Europe in May for 99 euro (without LightScribe) and 109 euro (with LightScribe).

Corsair Ships Flash Voyager GT

Corsair today launched the new Flash Voyager GT line of USB drives. The new line delivers sustained read/write performance up to 34MB/sec and 28MB/sec respectively. The design is water resistant and shock resistant. And to add more security, the Flash Voyager GT offers TrueCrypt encryption software, which  offers AES 256-bit encryption. They are available in 2GB, 4GB and 8GB, and costs USD 29.99, USD 59.99 and USD 119.99 respectively.

Corsair Ships its 4GB SDHC

Corsair expanded its SD card family with the new 4GB SD High Capacity (SDHCTM) cards. It can store up to 19 hours of MPEG 4 movies or 1000 MP3 songs. The new card is rated Class 2, which guarantees a minimum data-transfer rate of 2 MB/sec.

Plextor Launches PX-608CU DVD-RW Drive

Plextor has recently launched its second-generation ultra-portable DVD±R/RW CD-R/RW multi-drive. The PX-608CU is USB 2.0 powered and really small: it measures 15.9mm high and weighs just 250g.

The PX-608CU multi-drive delivers fast DVD recording speeds of 8X DVD±R on single-layer media, 4X DVD±R on Double-Layer and Dual-Layer (DL) media, and 5X DVD-RAM. The drive also supports 8X DVD+RW, 6X DVD-RW, 8X max DVD-ROM, 24X CD-R/RW/ROM. DVD±VR is supported for direct disc recording, while DVD+RW background format eliminates the need to manually format a DVD+RW disc.

Buffalo announced a new 18x Super-multi DVD burner based on the Pioneer DVR-212 series. The drive will be available in both external (USB2.0) and internal (S-ATA) versions, and they will offer 18x writing for DVD±R, 12x for DVD-RAM, 10x for DVD±R DL, 8x for DVD+RW and 6x for DVD-RW media. It will be launched at March.

What about carry thousands of photos, MP3 songs anda data files in your hand? Although this is not a killer news, it is still incredible how small is the Nano 1" Thumb Drive, from Pocketec. The micro drive store 12 GB of data and has USB 2.0 standard. Its transfer rate is up to 7.9MB/sec and its rotational speed is 4200 RPM.  It costs USD 169,95.

Asus Launches DRW-1814BLT Super-multi DVD burner

Asus unveils the DRW-1814BLT Super-multi DVD burner, which claims to be the first   one to offer a recording speed of 14x for the DVD-RAM media. Other features of the new SATA drive include the Lightscribe disc labeling capability, 18x writing for DVD±R, 8x for DVD±R DL and DVD+RW, 6x for DVD-RW and 48x/32x for CD-R and CD-RW, respectively.

It will be available first at the japanese market priced at around 6,500 Yen (USD 54).
