A BenQ announced its first 18X and 20X series of DVD burners: the DW1810 triple-writer DVD burner with Lightscribe support, the DW2000 20X DVD burner and its Lighscribe version, DW2010.

All drives support write and read multiple DVD (DVD+/- R/RW, and DVD-RAM) and CD formats. The DVD-RAM writing support allows direct "Drag and Drop recording" to a DVD-RAM media without using any burning software.

Plextor unveils portable hard disk drives that fits in your pocket (it has only 17 mm thick and 200 g in weight). In a brushed aluminium case, the PX-PH08U2 stores 80 GB of data and the PX-PH12U2 stores 120 GB. They both are Mac and PC compatible. It features up to 480 Mbps transfer rate (USB 2.0) and 5,400 RPM.

Fujitsu Ships 2300BT HDD with up to 300 GB

Fujitsu announced the MHX2300BT series of mobile hard disk drives (HDDs), the first 2.5" PMR with capacities of 250 GB and 300 GB. It has low power consumption at 1.6 W, high shock tolerance and near-silent operation. The HDD spins at 4,200 RPM with host transfer rate of 150 MB/s max. and is available in SATA 2.5 (ATA-8) interface.

The MHX2300BT series will begin shipping in the first quarter of 2007.

The SH-S183L features 8X double layer DVD, 18x single layer DVD, 48x CD-R and 32x CD-RW writing. You can reset to Maxspeed mode by using Magic Speed Program. The SH-S183L is shipping in the U.S. with an estimated Price of USD 89.99.

Buffalo announces the world's first 5.25" HD DVD drive for desktops computers. The HDV-ROM2.4FB runs HD DVD-ROM, HD DVD-R, DVD±R/RW, CD-ROM and CD-R/RW media. The new drive features a copy of Cyberlink’s  PowerDVD HD DVD Edition software. It will be released in Japan later this month with an estimated price of USD 320.

Maxtor internal hard drive retail kits now have a three-year limited warranty, announced Seagate. The new warranty applies retroactively to all Maxtor branded Internal Hard Drive Kits in retail channel inventory, or purchased by consumers on or after October 1, 2006.

Maxtor Internal Hard Drive Retail Kits come in capacities up to 500GB. Its suggested retail price varies from USD 79.95 for 80GB to USD 239.95 for 500 GB.

Samsung Unveils M80 SATA Series and M80 Series

Samsung introduces the new 2.5" hard disk drives M80 SATA Series and M80 Series, targeted for mobile computing, which increases storage capacity up to 160 GB. Both series utilize advanced Perpendicular Magnetic Recording (PMR) technology, the samsung's first based on this technology and feature a 8MB of onboard data cache and  400 rpm spindle speed. Manufacturer has also increased damage risk protection by incorporating industry-leading free-fall sensors, which provides shock tolerance.

The M80 SATA Series features the 80GB HM080HI, the 120GB HM120II and 160GB HM160JI. The M80 Series includes the 80GB HM080HC, the 120GB HM120IC and the 160GB HM160JC.

Kingmax unveils its new SDHC memory card generation . In comparison to Ver.1.1, the new Secure Digital High Capacity can store from 4 GB to 32 GB, though Kingmax has launched cards up to 8 GB. It also ensure complete compatibility with all products that support the SDHC specification. The SDHC cards are given speed class ratings for their minimum sustained write speed: Class 2 for 2 MB/sec, Class 4 for 4 MB/sec and Class 6 for 6 B/sec. Kingmax intend to drop costs of the production for SDHC memory card makes current storage media, such as VCD, DVD and hard disk drives, obsolete.
