Do you think flash drives are portable enough? Transcend releases a very tiny, slim and light one. The JetFlash T2K USB 2.0 Flash Drive measures a mere 42.6mm x 16mm x 3.1mm and is almost weightless (2 g). It includes eight functions: AutoLogin, PC-Lock, Favorites, Secret-Zip, E-mail, DataBackup, Online Update and My JetFlash.  It is now available in 1GB, 2GB, and 4GB capacities.

Asus Launches DRW-1814BLT Super-multi DVD burner

Asus unveils the DRW-1814BLT Super-multi DVD burner, which claims to be the first   one to offer a recording speed of 14x for the DVD-RAM media. Other features of the new SATA drive include the Lightscribe disc labeling capability, 18x writing for DVD±R, 8x for DVD±R DL and DVD+RW, 6x for DVD-RW and 48x/32x for CD-R and CD-RW, respectively.

It will be available first at the japanese market priced at around 6,500 Yen (USD 54).

Corsair Launches Flash Readout in 4 GB and 8 GB

Corsair announced the availability of the Corsair Flash Readout USB drive in new 4 GB and 8 GB capacities.  The Flash Readout features a Bi-stable Cholesteric Display (BCD) showing data usage and availability.  These drives have a customizable label that users can personalize and edit to identify the drives’ contents. It has an 11 character alphanumeric label display, a pie chart to indicate disk space usage and a four digit display showing available storage space. Its speed is 20 MB/s reading and 7 MB/s writing.

Seagate Ships Savvio 15K HD

Seagate introduced what it claims to be the world's fastest hard drive. The Savvio 15K is a 2.5" drive and features 15K-rpm, promissing to be 12% than any driver. It is also 70% smaller, and decrases 30% the power consumption  once compared with 15K-rpm 3.5-inch drives. The new HDs ship in the SAS interface at 36 GB and 73 GB capacities.

With this capacity, users can carry and access up to 12 hours of MPEG-1 video, about 6,000 300-DPI photos, 6 hours of DVD-quality video or tens of thousands of personal or business documents. Sandisk Announces 32 GB SSD

Sandisk has unveiled today a new flash memory drive. The case is a 1.8-inch solid state drive (SSD), the same used in hard-drives. But the 32 GB of data is stored on flash chips.

The SanDisk SSD is more than 100 times faster than most HDs, says the manufacturer. It achieves a read rate of 62 MB/s and a random read rate of 7,000 IOPS. A laptop PC equipped with SanDisk SSD can boot Microsoft Windows Vista Enterprise in as little as 35 seconds. Another advantage is the low power consumption rate: 0,4 W.

Axxen has released three new external HDD which also serve as a flash card reader. The A-3500, A-2500, and A-1800 comes in 3.5", 2.5", or 1.5" hard drive, respectively. A BenQ announced its first 18X and 20X series of DVD burners: the DW1810 triple-writer DVD burner with Lightscribe support, the DW2000 20X DVD burner and its Lighscribe version, DW2010.

All drives support write and read multiple DVD (DVD+/- R/RW, and DVD-RAM) and CD formats. The DVD-RAM writing support allows direct "Drag and Drop recording" to a DVD-RAM media without using any burning software.
