Toshiba Announces New 1.8“ Hard Disks

The new single-platter hard disks are available in 60 GB, 80 GB, 120 GB and 160 GB capacities, work at 4,200 rpm, have PATA interface, 15 ms average seek time and maximum sound output of 15 dB. Western Digital Launches New 2 TB Hard Disks

Western Digital has just launched two 2 TB hard disks targeted to desktop and servers/NAS (Network Attached Storage): Caviar Black and RE4. Both hard disks make use of four 500 GB platters, have SATA-300 interface, 64 MB of buffer, work at 7,200 rpm, have two processors to increase performance and a dual-actuator system to improve accuracy over the data tracks.
