ASUS has officially launched Rampage II Gene, a microATX motherboard based on Intel X58 chipset. This board supports Intel Core i7 processors, has six DDR3 sockets supporting triple-channel configuration, two PCI Express x16 slots supporting to SLI or CrossFire modes, one PCI Express x4 slot, one PCI slot, seven SATA-300 ports, one eSATA port, one ATA-133 port, Gigabit Ethernet and 8-channel audio. Rampage II Gene comes with several overclocking options that can be adjusted on-the-fly through a joystick-like control without entering the BIOS Setup. This board also has a neat feature called MemOK! that works as following: in the event of a boot failure after installing new RAM, the user can press an easily accessible button on the motherboard and MemOK! will automatically load the failsafe settings needed to ensure a successful system boot. ASUS didn’t disclose the price of this motherboard.

This socket AM3 motherboard features AMD 790FX chipset (SB750 southbridge chip), supports DDR3 memory up to 1,333 MHz (max. 16 GB), has two PCI Express x16 slots, two PCI Express x1 slots, two PCI slots, one ATA-133 port, one floppy disk drive port, six SATA-300 ports (RAID 0, 1, 5, 10), one Gigabit Ethernet port (Realtek 8111DL chip), on-board video (ATI Radeon HD3300), on-board audio (Realtek ALC888), one Firewire port, seven USB ports (four on the rear panel and three via the USB brackets connected to the internal headers), and VGA, DVI and HDMI connectors. EVGA has just launched nForce 790i SLI FTW mainboard, as its own name implies, it is based on the latest high-end chipset from NVIDIA for the Intel platform. What is new on nForce 790i compared to its predecessor, 780i, is the support for DDR3 memories and PCI Express 2.0 support generated by the chipset itself. MSI has launched ‘P45-D8 Memory Lover’, a motherboard equipped with eight memory slots, four of them used by DDR2 memories (up to 16 GB) and the four remaining used by DDR3 memories (up to 8 GB). So you can use your DDR2 memories on this board and as soon as DDR3 price declines you can upgrade to this technology by just replacing the memories. P45-8D Memory Lover is also equipped with one PCI Express 2.0 x16 slot, one PCI Express x1 slot, three PCI slots, 8-channel high-definition audio and a heat-pipe installed on north bridge and south bridge chips.
