Gigabyte has just launched the industry's first socket AM3 motherboards featuring USB 3.0 and SATA-600 technologies. Three models were launched: GA-MA790FXT-UD5P (AMD 790FX chipset), GA-MA790XT-UD4P (AMD 790X chipset) and GA-MA770T-UD3 (AMD 770 chipset). These boards support the latest 45-nm Athlon II and Phenom II processors (HyperTransport 3.0 and built-in DDR3 memory controller), have a 10-phase voltage regulator (eight for CPU and two for memories) and support DDR3 up to 1,866 MHz (via overclocking). No word on pricing.

DFI Launches LANParty BI P43-T34 Motherboard

DFI has expanded its LANParty Blood Iron series with the launch of BI P43-T34 motherboard. This ATX motherboard supports Core 2 Duo and Core 2 Quad socket 775 processors, is based on Intel P43 + ICH10 chipset, has four DDR3-1333 sockets, a PCI Express x16 slot, six SATA-300 ports, one IDE port, 12 USB ports, Gigabit Ethernet and 7.1 audio (Realtek ALC885 codec; 24-bit, 192 KHz sampling rate and SNR of 106 dB). No word on pricing and availability.

ASUS has just launched its first motherboard compatible with SATA-600 standard. ASUS P7P55D Premium is a socket 1156 motherboard based on Intel P55 Express chipset featuring four DDR3-2200 (overclock)/1600/1333/1066 MHz (16 GB max) sockets, two PCI Express 2.0 x16 slots (if two video cards are used speed slow down to x8 in each slot), two PCI Express x1 slots, two PCI slots, six SATA-300 ports supporting RAID 0,1,5,10, one ATA-133 port controlled by JMicron JMB368 chip, two SATA-600 ports controlled by Marvell 88SE9123 chip, two Gigabit Ethernet ports controlled by Realtek 8112L/8110SC chips, two Firewire ports controlled by VIA 6308P chip, 12 USB ports (eight located on the rear panel and four available thru two connectors on the motherboard), 10-channel audio (VIA VT2020 codec; 192 KHz sampling rate and 24-bit resolution), optical and coaxial SPDIF outputs, power and reset on-board buttons, a remote control for overclocking and Japanese caps. No word on pricing.

ECS has launched P55H-A Black Series motherboard, a product targeted to gamers and overclocking freaks. This motherboard is based on Intel P55 Express chipset, supports the upcoming LGA-1156 Core i7 and Core i5 processors, has four DDR3-1333 slots (max 16 GB), two PCI Express slots (they work at x8 when two video card are installed), one PCI Express x4 slot, one PCI Express x1 slot, two PCI slots, 8-channel audio (Realtek ALC888 codec), Gigabit Ethernet (RealTek 8111DL), six SATA-300 ports, one ATA-133 port, one eSATA port, eight USB 2.0 ports, 6-phase voltage regulator circuit, POST diagnostics display, clear-CMOS button on the rear part of the board and on-board Power and Reset buttons. This motherboard comes with a myriad of overclocking options, as you can see below:

  • CPU Voltage: Adjustable CPU voltage from 0.5 V to 1.6 V
  • NB (IOH) Voltage: Adjustable NB (IOH) voltage from 0.011 V to 0.693 V
  • CPU VTT Voltage: Adjustable CPU VTT voltage from 0.013 V to 0.481 V
  • SB (ICH10R) Voltage: Adjustable SB (ICH10R) voltage from 0.05 V to 0.15 V
  • VDIMM: DRAM voltage control from 0.015 V to 0.945 V

P55H-A Black Series also comes with eJiffy, an embedded system that allows users to run several useful software (like Internet browsing and chat and pictures view programs) without loading the computer operating system.

EVGA has increased its Classified line-up with the launch of a GeForce GTX 285 video card and the world’s first motherboard to support 4-way SLI. If you want to buy this motherboard make sure your case has more than nine slots for expansion cards and be compatible with XL-ATX (13.5" x 10.3") motherboards. The suggested price for GeForce GTX 285 Classified video card is USD 379.99 and for X58 Classified 4-Way SLI motherboard is USD 449.99.

ASUS Announces Motherboard for Audiophiles

ASUS has just announced a motherboard series targeted to audiophiles. Absolute Pitch, as it is called, features three audio technologies: DTS Surround Sensation UltraPC, ENVY HD (10-channel) and Blu-Ray audio decoding (192 kHz sampling rate and 24-bit resolution). Two models were launched within this series: M4A785G HTPC/RC and M4A785G HTPC. Both models support AM3/AM2+/AM2 processors, feature a AMD 785G/SB710 chipset, have four DDR2-1200 (max. 16 GB) sockets, integrated video (Radeon HD 4200), one PCI Express x16 slot, two PCI Express x1 slots, one PCI slot, five SATA ports, one eSATA port, Gigabit Ethernet, optical SPDIF output and RCA gold-plated audio connectors. M4A785G HTPC/RC model is equipped with a remote control. No word on pricing and availability.

Albatron Launches Modular Motherboard

Motherboard Albatron has launched K3780E, a motherboard comprised with two PCBs: a system board, where the processor and chipset are located, and an I/O board, where the motherboard connectors are. The system board includes an AMD ASB1 BGA embedded processor, AMD 780E northbridge chip (Radeon HD 3000 integrated graphics engine, which is DirectX 10) and SB710 southbridge chip supporting four SATA-300 ports. The I/O board includes one PCI Express 2.0 x16 slot, two Gigabit Ethernet ports, one VGA port, one HDMI port and audio connectors.

This modular motherboard concept allows Albatron to adjust the board according to the customers' requirements without the need to redesign the whole board: simply replace the I/O board and/or the system board to have a computer with more features.
