Microsoft has introduced the Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000, featuring a “gull wing” design, with a 14-degree gable that puts the keys closer to the users’ fingers. It also offers an optional palm rest for a 7-degree reversed slope, a wrist rest and a 12-degree split. Additional features include a Zoom Slider located in the middle of the keyboard as well as Back and Forward and My Favorite Keys. Suggested retail price is USD 64.95. The company has announced two other ergonomic products: the 6-degree curved Comfort Curve Keyboard 2000 (USD 24.95) and the Comfort Optical Mouse 3000 (USD 29.95).

Logitech will start selling in September two new gaming mice capable of resolutions of up to 2,000 dpi. Both the laser G5 and the cordless G7 handle 6.4 megapixels of image processing per second and sport full-speed bi-directional USB connection which delivers 500 reports per second. The G5 is packaged with adjustable weight cartridges to give users better control. The G7 features a five level power indicator and twin hot-swappable Li-ion batteries. Suggested retail prices are, respectively, USD 70 and USD 100. Logitech will also release in October the G15, a gamer keyboard, including built-in auxiliary LCD display, 18 programmable keys and advanced software to set up custom commands. The device will be priced at USD 80.

Razer, a company specialized in products for gamers, launched an optical mouse with a resolution of 2,000 dpi capable of working at 7,000 fps. The Copperhead also features 32 KB of integrated memory, which allows users to save up to five personal configurations on the device, easing its use on other machines. Face plates offer personalization options. Suggested retail price is USD 80.

Apple has launched its first ever multibutton mouse dubbed the Mighty Mouse. The device is equipped with two main “buttons” concealed under the white plastic case. Clicks are detected by touch sensors. Other features include two gray side buttons, which can be programmed to provide one-click access to software, and the Scroll Ball, which allows users to go over a page in any direction. The Mighty Mouse is priced at USD 49.

Microsoft has announced that it will release its Remote Keyboard for Windows XP Media Center Edition in September. The device combines keyboard, remote control and mouse pointer, allowing users to send instant messages, view images and control a TV, among other functions. It includes a Media Center green button, backlit keys and a Key-Lock, which avoids triggering an application by accident. The Remote Keyboard will sell for UDS 104.95.

Logitech announced two new mice with battery management features: the V200 Cordless Notebook Mouse and the Cordless Mini Optical Mouse. The first one promises to last up to a year on two AA batteries thanks to its 2.4 GHz digital technology. The Mini should last four months on a single charge. Both feature a battery-light indicator that notifies users when the batteries are running low. The new mice include a miniature USB wireless receiver that is paired individually with the mouse during manufacturing. Suggested retail prices are USD 39.99 and USD 29.99 respectively.

BenQ will start shipping in early November the new x730 Wireless keyboard and mouse combination. Designed by Designworks (BMW Group), the keyboard features X-structure Key Technology and provides six media console buttons and two volume buttons. BTC has just released their new 6300CL ultra slim keyboard with backlight. You can turn its light on or off by pressing Esc F10. Also, if you don't use the computer for 3 minuts the backlight goes automatically off. It also has seven multimedia hotkeys, five internet hotkeys and a sleep button. Accordingly to BTC, the lifespan of the backlight is of 3,000 hours and of the keyboard is of 10 million keystrokes.
