Thermaltake displayed their forthcoming gaming keyboard. Without a name yet, the new mechanical keyboard will have 12 separate macro keys, multimedia keys, USB connection, two available USB ports and audio jacks. One neat feature of this future keyboard is that only keys universally used by games (A, W, S, D and the arrows) are illuminated, and you can also control their brightness level.

SteelSeries Launches the Shift Gaming Keyboard
Author: Cássio Lima Date: September 24, 2010 - 9:05 AM PST
Category: Input
More Info: http://steelseries.com/press/steelseries-introduces-the-shift-gaming-k...
Input

SteelSeries has just launched its newest gaming keyboard, the Shift. This product uses the same concept of another SteelSeries’ keyboard, the Zboard (SteelSeries has bought Ideazon, the manufacturer of the Zboard), which we’ve already reviewed. What is really cool about these products is that you can switch the keyset according to the game you want to play for better performance. Want to play World of Warcraft? Just change the keyboard keyset for a specially one designed for that game. SteelSeries offers several keysets designed for games such as Aion, World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King, and StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty.

The new Shift keyboard features gold-plated microphone-in and audio-out ports, as well as two USB 2.0 ports (one powered). Media keys are disposed on the left side of the keyboard, and it has a rubber wrist rest that prevents slipping. Its onboard memory allows users to easily record up to three layers of on-the-fly macros. Every key on the SteelSeries Shift can be customized; players can record a sequence of actions (Shift + Alt + P, for example) and then map that sequence to a single key. It also features anti-ghosting capability, which allows up to simultaneous seven keystrokes.

The SteelSeries Shift has a suggested price of USD 89.99 and includes the Shift Base, and the Standard QWERTY Keyset. The SteelSeries Shift Keysets will be sold separately for USD 24.99 each.
