Samsung is the world’s first manufacturer to design a DDR4 memory module. The module in question make use of 30-nm chips, work at 2,133 MHz, is powered at 1.2 V, and supports Pseudo Open Drain (POD), a new technology that makes the module to consume half the electric current of DDR3 when reading and writing data.

DDR4 memory chips work officially from 1,600 MHz to 3,200 MHz, and are powered at 1.2 V, while DDR3 memory chips work officially up to 1,600 MHz and are powered at 1.35 V or 1.5 V.

In case you might not know, Samsung has developed the industry's first DDR memories in 1997. In 2001, it introduced the first DDR2 memories, and in 2005, announced the first DDR3 memories.

The company didn’t inform when the first DDR4 memory modules will come to the market.
