A-Data Announces Triple-Channel DDR3 kits for Core i7 Processors
Author: Cássio Lima Date: October 3, 2008 - 9:17 AM PST
Category: Memory
More Info: http://www.adata.com.tw/
Memory Intel hasn’t even officially launched its Core i7 processor (based on Nehalem microarchitecture) and A-Data has just announced triple-channel DDR3 kits for this processor. Bear in mind that the memory controller integrated on Core i7 processors provides three memory channels, i.e. it is capable of accessing three memory modules at the same time, in parallel, in order to improve performance – in theory triple-channel architecture provides a 50% increase of available bandwidth compared to a dual-channel architecture running at the same clock rate. So in order to achieve the best possible performance with a Core i7 CPU, you need to install three or six (if your motherboard supports six memory sockets, of course) memory modules.

A-Data triple-channel DDR3 kits are available in 3 GB and 6 GB capacities and work at 1,333 MHz (with 7-7-7-20 timings at 1.65 V – 1.75 V) or 1,600 MHz (with 8-8-8-24 timings at 1.65 V – 1.75 V). No word on pricing yet.

Buffalo Announces DDR3-2400
Author: Cássio Lima Date: September 29, 2008 - 6:00 AM PST
Category: Memory
More Info: http://www.buffalotech.com/
Memory Buffalo has announced DDR3 memory modules able to work at 2,400 MHz (PC3-19200). These modules have 1 GB capacity, use Elpida’s 2.5 Gbps DRAM chips and were tested stable at 2,400 MHz with 11-11-11-34 timings at 2.1 V. However, at standard DDR3 voltage, 1.5 V, these modules can work up to 2,096 MHz with 9-10-9-24 timings. These modules currently exist only as prototypes, but there are a lot of chances that they hit the market shortly.
