OCZ Launches Throttle eSATA Flash Memory

Memory

OCZ has just launched a flash memory that is installed on an eSATA port instead of one traditional USB port, thus providing the best performance in read/write operations. USB 2.0 interface is limited to transfer up to 480 Mbps (60 MB/s in theory, 48 MB/s in practical terms). For users that need to copy a large amount of data on a regular basis eSATA interface is a better option. OCZ Throttle eSATA flash memory is set to come in 8 GB (OCZESATATHR8G), 16 GB (OCZESATATHR16G) and 32 GB (OCZESATATHR32G) capacities and offer read and write speeds of up to 90 MB/s and 30 MB/s, respectively. This flash memory also features a mini USB 2.0 port that can be used in the case where an eSATA port is not available. No word on pricing and availability has been disclosed.

Memory

Following  A-Data, OCZ, Corsair, Patriot, G.Skill, Kingston, Gingle and takeMS, now it’s time to Mushkin to announce the launch of its triple-channel DDR3 kits for the new Intel Core i7 processors. Just to refresh your mind, the memory controller integrated on Core i7 processors provides three memory channels, i.e. it is capable of accessing three memory modules at the same time, in parallel, in order to improve performance – in theory triple-channel architecture provides a 50% increase of available bandwidth compared to a dual-channel architecture running at the same clock rate. So in order to achieve the best possible performance with a Core i7 CPU, you need to install three or six (if your motherboard supports six memory sockets, of course) memory modules.

Mushkin announced the launch of the following kits:

  • 998681: Works at 1,600 MHz, available in 6 GB (3 x 2 GB) kits with 8-8-8-24 timings at 1.65 V. MSRP of USD 310.50.
