Today, AMD announced the 2nd-generation A-Series APUs, codenamed “Trinity.” APUs, or Accelerated Processing Units, is what AMD calls their processors with integrated video. The 2nd-Generation A-Series APUs are built in a 32-nm process, like their predecessor “Llano,” but AMD did a great job increasing CPU performance up to 29 percent and graphics performance up to 56 percent over the previous generation. Power consumption is also improved over Llano, which resulted in up to 12 hours of battery life. Trinity APUs include an integrated accelerated video decode (UVD) to optimize video quality available and accelerate video file conversion, and a AMD Radeon HD 7000 Series GPU. In the table below are the models launched and their main specs. Model | CPU Cores | CPU Clock (Max/Base) | GPU | GPU Clock (Max/Base) | GPU Processors | L2 Cache | TDP | Max DDR3 | A10-41600M | 4 | 3.2 GHz/2.3 GHz | Radeon HD 7660G | 686 MHz/497 MHz | 384 | 4 MB | 35 W | DDR3-1600, DDR3L-1600, DDR3U-1333 | A8-4500M | 4 | 2.8 GHz/1.9 GHz | Radeon HD 7640G | 655 MHz/497 MHz | 256 | 4 MB | 35 W | DDR3-1600, DDR3L-1600, DDR3U-1333 | A6-4400M | 2 | 3.2 GHz/2.7 GHz | Radeon HD 7520G | 686 MHz/497 MHz | 192 | 1 MB | 35 W | DDR3-1600, DDR3L-1600, DDR3U-1333 | A10-4655M | 4 | 2.8 GHz/2 GHz | Radeon HD 7620G | 497 MHz/360 MHz | 384 | 4 MB | 25 W | DDR3-1600, DDR3L-1600, DDR3U-1333 | A6-4455M | 2 | 2.6 GHz/2.1 GHz | Radeon HD 7500G | 424 MHz/327 MHz | 256 | 2 MB | 17 W | DDR3-1600, DDR3L-1600, DDR3U-1333 |

Intel has just launched its first 22-nm processors (based on the Ivy Bridge architecture) featuring Intel’s vPro technology. Intel’s vPro technology provides IT managers with a collection of security and manageability features, including remote access to the PC independent of the state of the operating system or that of the computer’s power. The newest vPro processors include an identity protection technology with public key infrastructure (Intel IPT with PKI), which provides a new second layer of authentication embedded into the PC that allows websites and business networks to validate that a legitimate user is logging on from a trusted PC by using a private key stored in a PC’s firmware. In addition, the chipset has Intel’s Secure Key, a hardware-based random number generator that businesses can use to encrypt applications, OS Guard malware detection and prevention technology, and McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) Deep Command, which is designed to allow remote patching. In the table below are the Ivy Bridge CPUs with vPro technology. Model | Clock | Turbo Clock | L3 Cache | Cores | HT | TDP | Suggested Price | Core i7-3770T | 2.5 GHz | 3.7 GHz | 8 MB | 4 | Yes | 45 W | USD 294 | Core i7-3770S | 3.1 GHz | 3.9 GHz | 8 MB | 4 | Yes | 65 W | USD 294 | Core i7-3770 | 3.4 GHz | 3.9 GHz | 8 MB | 4 | Yes | 77 W | USD 294 | Core i5-3570T | 2.3 GHz | 3.3 GHz | 6 MB | 4 | No | 45 W | USD 205 | Core i5-3550S | 3 GHz | 3.7 GHz | 6 MB | 4 | No | 65 W | USD 205 | Core i5-3550 | 3.3 GHz | 3.7 GHz | 6 MB | 4 | No | 77 W | USD 205 |

| Intel Launches CPU Replacement Plan for Overclockers |
| Author: Cássio Lima |
Date: January 19, 2012 - 10:23 AM PST |
| Category: CPU |
| More Info: http://click.intel.com/tuningplan/ |
Overclocking is a technique that enables a given hardware part to operate at a clock frequency above its default frequency, thus increasing its performance. This technique is not recommended by the manufacturers and voids the product’s warranty. Well, the good news for enthusiasts who like to overclock their processors is that Intel has launched a service called the “Performance Tuning Protection Plan.” This plan will provide certain out-of-warranty service offerings in the event of damage caused by overclocking or over-voltaging by the user. By purchasing this plan and meeting the plan’s criteria, the user can receive a one-time replacement processor if the user’s over-voltaging or overclocking causes the original processor to fail. This plan in no way expands, changes or extends the original three year standard warranty and is simply a plan the user may want to purchase for overclocking or over-voltaging. The Performance Tuning Protection Plan covers the following chips: - Core i5-2500K: USD 20 (Plan price)
- Core i7-2600K: USD 25
- Core i7-2700K: USD 25
- Core i7-3930K: USD 35
- Core i7-3960X: USD 35
