Intel Reveals Nehalem Processors Name

Intel has officially announced the commercial name of their forthcoming 45-nm processors codename Nehalem. These processors will be called Core i7 (or Core i7 Extreme Edition) and should be in production in the fourth quarter of this year. Available in 2.66 GHz, 2.93 GHz and 3.2 GHz clocks, Core i7 processors will have four cores, an integrated triple-channel memory controller, 8 MB of L3 cache, HyperThreading technology support and will be based on LGA 1,366 socket.

New AMD Phenom Processors

AMD has just launched three new Phenom processors: Phenom X4 9950 Black Edition (2.6 GHz), Phenom X4 9350e (2 GHz) and Phenom X4 9150e (1.8 GHz). All theses are quad-core processors built on 65nm process, have 128 KB of L1 cache per core, 512 KB of L2 cache per core, 2 MB of L3 cache shared between all cores and are AM2+ socket compatible. Phenom X4 9950 has its an unlocked multiplier, meaning a higher overclocking capability, as you can configure it as if it were a CPU with a higher clock rate. On the table bellow you can see the prices for theses processors.

AMD Intros Four Quad-Core Opteron SE

AMD introduced four new Quad-Core AMD Opteron SE processors:  2360 SE (2.5 GHz), 2358 SE (2.4 GHz), 8360 SE (2.5 GHz), and 8358 SE (2.4 GHz). According to AMD, the new processors achieved the highest SAP-SD two-tier score in eight-socket x86 servers, demonstrating world-class scalability for customers looking to drive more performance in demanding ERP environments.

Via Launches Nano Processor Family

VIA Technologies announced the new Nano processor family based on the Isaiah Architecture.

The first 64-bit processors in VIA's x86 platform portfolio have been specifically designed to optimize performance for the most demanding computing, entertainment and connectivity applications, including Blu-ray Disc HD video playback and the latest PC games, such as Crysis.

The new family has 5 models: Via Nano L2100 at 1,8 GHz, L2200 1,6 GHz, U2400 1,3 GHz, U2500 1,2 GHz and U2300 1 GHz.

AMD Rolls Out 5 New x86 Server Processors

AMD introduced the energy-efficient x86 server processors with four processing cores and an integrated memory controller all in a low 55-watt ACP thermal envelope.

Quad-Core AMD Opteron HE processors are available in both the
2300 and 8300 Series for two-, four- and eight-way rack servers and blades. The model numbers are Opteron 8347 HE, 8346 HE, 2347 HE, 2346 HE, and 2344 HE.

Systems based on five new low-power Quad-Core AMD Opteron(tm) HE (Highly Efficient) processors are now available.

AMD Releases Business Class

AMD has released its first computer brand, called AMD Business Class. The first AMD commercial desktop platform solution includes a new lineup of stable processors, including native AMD Phenom X3 triple-core and AMD Phenom X4 quad-core processors, as well as AMD Athlon X2 dual-core processors. OEMs can choose AMD 780V chipsets or optional ATI Radeon HD 3000 series, and the platform also supports non-AMD graphics and chipsets.

Commercial notebooks for AMD Business Class are scheduled to be available based on the upcoming next-generation notebook platform, codenamed “Puma,” with competitive productivity and battery life in the second half of this year.

Companies Acer, Dell, Fujitsu-Siemens, Hewlett-Packard and Lenovo are some companies that plan to sell AMD computers.

AMD Releases 780G chipset

AMD announces the 780G chipset, designed to PCs that provide users with full HD and best-in-class 3D graphics performance and it is indicated for power-efficient computing to help lower energy costs. Manufacturer also claims that gamers will appreciate the detail-rich images and dynamic interactivity when playing the latest DirectX 10 games.

Additionally, ATI Hybrid Graphics Technology is achieved by utilizing AMD’s new integrated chipset, the 780G and one of the ATI Radeon GPUs.

The new chipset will be available from more than 40 AMD partners at launch and  AMD 780 Series-based PCs are expected in stores starting in Q2 2008.

Futuremark Offers 'Price and Performance Information Page'

Futuremark announced the new "Price and Performance Information Page" on YouGamers.com. This new service help users to choose the next processor or graphics card.

According to Futuremark, there's a real-world data used to calculate the system performance, based on over 20,000 benchmark results from 3DMark06 received each day. This data from the 3DMark06 scores is matched with retail prices from CNET Shopper and is used to calculate relative performance from over 120 processors and graphic cards. All lists are generated and updated twice a day.

Intel Unveils 16 New 45nm Processors

Intel has unveiled at CES 16 new 45nm processors: 5 dual core mobile, 4 dual core desktop, 3 quad core desktop and 4 new server processors (3 quad, 1 dual). Nine of them (Core 2 Duo models) will be available this January. Check the new processors:

AMD Launches Phenom 9600 "Black Edition"

AMD has launched a new version of its quad-core desktop processor Phenom 9600. The Phenom 9600 "Black Edition" will sell for the same price as the normal Phenom 9600. According to AMD, the launch is a 'goal to have the most accessible quad-core processors on the market'. The 2.3GHz CPU has its clock multiplier unlocked, meaning a better overclocking capability, and tunable performance. The brand 'Phenom' replaces Athlon 64 as the top-of-line CPU from AMD.

AMD has launched another CPU under their “Black Edition” series, which is targeted to oveclocking enthusiasts. Athlon 64 X2 5000+ “Black Edition” is a dual-core processor working at 2.6 GHz, featuring dual-channel DDR2 memory controller, 1 MB L2 cache (512 KB per core), 65 W thermal design power and coming with its clock multiplier unlocked. Athlon 64 X2 5000+ Black Edition CPUs cost $136 in 1000-unit quantities (the regular Athlon 64 X2 5000+ costs $125 in 1000-unit quantities).

Triple-core AMD Processors

AMD has announced the addition of Phenom triple-core processor to its desktop roadmap, expected to be launched in Q1 2008. The new triple-core Phenom processors (code-name Toliman) will be based on K10 architecture and will feature HyperTransport 3.0, 512 KB of L2 cache per core and a shared L3 cache (value not disclaimed). It seems that triple-core Phenom processors are quad-core models with one disabled core.
