ASUS Shows Eee PC 1008HA at CeBIT 2009

During CeBIT 2009 ASUS showed the newest member of Eee PC family, 1008HA. Unfortunately ASUS didn’t provide information on the product specs, but we know that this netbook will come with 802.11 b/g/n network, will support Bluetooth, 3G and WiMAX technologies, and will feature an embedded 1.3 Mpixel webcam. No word on pricing and availability.

Laptop with Two Displays

Our editor Gabriel Torres was completely right when he said on his article called Laptops: What Ideas are Likely to Reach the Market? that there were market for laptops with two displays and that in short time manufacturers would launch products based on this innovation. A company called gScreen Corp. has announced the launch of gScreen G400, the first laptop on the market featuring two 15” LCD displays. This laptop will be equipped with Core 2 Duo T9600 (2.8 GHz) or P8400 processor (2.26 GHz), can be configured with up to 8 GB RAM and hard disk with up to 500 GB, nVidia Quadro FX 2700M Graphics with 512MB dedicated memory (or nVidia GeForce 9800M GT with 512MB dedicated memory), 6-cell or 9-cell battery, will weight 7.7 lbs (3.5 Kg) and will come with Windows Vista (or Windows XP Professional) operating system installed. Its price has not been defined yet, but users interested in this product can enter its pre-order program.

LG Launches X120 Netbook

During the CES 2009 last month, LG showed its X120 netbook. Now they’re making it official. X120 is a netbook (mini notebook) based on Atom N270 processor (1.6 GHZ) featuring a 10.9” display, 1 GB RAM, 160 GB hard disk, built-in 1.3 Mpixel webcam and embedded HSPA connectivity (3G communication). X120 weights 4.19 lbs (1.9 Kg) and measures 10.34” (W) x 7.02” (D) x 1.29” (H) (26,4 cm x 17,85 cm x 3,27 cm) with 3-cell battery or 10.34” (W) x 7.02” (D) x 1.49” (H) (26,4 cm x 17,85 cm x 3,78 cm) with 6-cell battery. According to LG X120 will reach the market next month. Its price has not been revealed.

ASUS Launches N81Vg Notebook

ASUS has just launched N81Vg, the world’s first notebook equipped with the new nVdia GeForce GT 120M GPU. This notebook has 14” LCD display, supports Intel Core 2 Duo processors (T9400, P8600, P8400, P7350, T6600, T6400, T5900 and T5800 models), supports up to 4 GB DDR2-800 (two sockets), can be configured with SATA hard disk (160 GB, 250 GB, 320 GB or 500 GB capacities), DVD writer or Blu-ray drive and a built-in 1.3 Mpixel Webcam. N81Vg weights 5.51 lbs or 2.5 kg (with 6-cell batteries), measures 13.46” x 10.07” x 1.41” or 34.2 cm x 25.6 cm x 3.6 cm and comes with Windows Vista operating system installed. MSI Launches NetOn AP1900

MSI has just announced its first all-in-one PC, the NetOn AP1900. The PC is a self-contained solution featuring an 18.5” LCD display (resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels; 16:9 aspect ratio), an Intel Atom N270 CPU (internal clock of 1.6 GHz), 1 GB RAM (2 GB max), 160 GB hard drive, DVD writer, on-board video (Intel GMA950), WiFi (802.11 b/g), Gigabit Ethernet, four USB 2.0 ports, card reader (SD, MMC, MS, XD) and an 1.3 Mpixel built-in webcam. AP1900 comes with a keyboard and mouse, along with two built-in speakers. This PC measures 21.65” x 16.53” x 1.37” or 55 cm x 42 cm x 3.5 cm (W x H x D) and weights 10.47 lbs (4.75 kg).

NetOn AP1900 is a great solution to be used in small offices, stores, internet cafes, kiosks, and similar applications where space is a matter. It can be installed with the desktop stand or on the wall. MSI has started production of this desktop, and will arrive at stores soon. No word on pricing.

ASUS has just announced the availability for pre-ordering the newest member from their Eee PC netbook (mini notebook) family, 1000HE. Featuring the new Intel Atom N280 CPU (internal clock of 1.66 GHz), this netbook has 10” display, 1 GB RAM, 160 GB hard drive, WiFi, Bluetooth technology, 6-cell battery pack with up to 9 and a half hours of battery life (according to the manufacturer) and will come in blue or black colors. Eee PC 1000HE pre-order price is of USD 399.99.

CES 2009: MSI Demos U115 Hybrid Netbook

During CES 2009 MSI demo’ed a competitor to the popular ASUS Eee PC, named U115. This netbook (mini-notebook) is based on Menlow mobile platform (Atom series Z5xx processor - the exact model has not been disclosed –, US15W chipset, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth technology), has a 10” display (16:9 ratio), weights only 2.2 Lbs (1 Kg) and has both SSD drive (8 GB or 16 GB) and SATA hard drive (120 GB or 160 GB), which can be disabled in order to save battery. Speaking of battery, U115 features a nine-cell battery lasting up to 12 hours (if the SATA hard drive is disabled). The operating system comes installed on the SSD drive (so operating system load is faster compared to a normal SATA drive). U115 also has three USB ports, memory card reader (XD/SD/MMC/MS), embedded 1.3 Mpixel webcam, supports up to 2 GB RAM and measures 10.24” x 7” (26 cm x 18 cm - W x D). No word on pricing and availability.

CES 2009: MSI Shows Ultra-Slim X320 Notebook

During CES 2009 MSI demo’ed an X320 prototype, an ultra-slim notebook (only 0.78” thickness) based on Menlow mobile platform (Atom series Z5xx processor - the exact model has not been disclosed –, US15W chipset, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth technology), 13.4” display (16:9 ratio) and weighting only 2.87 lbs. X320 will feature a four cell battery and according to MSI its battery can last up to 10 hours. No word on pricing and availability.

CES 2009: New EeePC Generation

Mobile Today during a press conference ASUS showed a video featuring the first notebook from the new EeePC generation, T91, which will have a 8.9” touch-screen display with Tablet PC capability (i.e. you can rotate the screen and write as if you were making notes on a notebook). T91 will be equipped with Atom Z520 processor, will have 1” thickness, will weight 2 lbs and will come with Windows XP Home Edition installed. TV turner and GPS will be optional features. The first T91 prototypes should surface up to CeBIT (early March).

Mobile ASUS has just announced their S121 notebook, the first product to arrive on the market eqquipped with a 512 GB SSD drive – according to manufacturer twice faster than SSD competitors. This notebook features Atom Z520 processor, weights only 3 lbs, has 12” display, measures 11.8” x 8.3” x 1” (W x D x H) and according to ASUS its battery last 8 hours. According to ASUS S121 will reach the market by the end of this month and should be retailed for USD 1,649.

ASUS has expanded its Eee PC family with the launch of Eee PC 1002HA netbook (a portable notebook). Featuring a brushed aluminium chassis, the 1002HA is very light solution (the product weight only 42,33 oz or 1.2 kg). It features Super Hybrid Engine (SHE), a technology that allows it to reduce processor internal clock according to its usability in order to save power.
