Panasonic has introduced the Toughpad family of professional-grade tablets, which includes the 10.1-inch Toughpad A1 and the 7-inch Toughpad B1 models. Both devices were designed to withstand extreme conditions and will be launched next year. They run on the Android operating system. The Toughpad A1 features a 1.2 GHz dual-core Marvell processor, 16 GB of storage space, 1 GB of LP-DDR2 memory, a 10.1-inch XGA touchscreen display (1024x768), a microSD card slot, a micro USB port, a micro HDMI port, a 5-megapixel rear camera, a 2-megapixel front camera, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, GPS, 4G (LTE or WiMAX), and a battery that provides up to 10 hours of operation. Razer has launched a powerful gaming laptop that will definitely please gamers and enthusiasts. The Blade features an aluminum case; measures 0.88 inches thin (22.35 mm), which is less than half that of current gaming laptops; and weighs 6.97 lbs (3 kg). It comes with an LED backlit 17.3” (1920x1080) display, a Core i7 2640M (2.8 GHz) processor, 8 GB of DDR3-1333 memory, an NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M discrete video card (2 GB of dedicated GDDR5 memory), a 320 GB (7,200 rpm) hard drive, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0, a Gigabit Ethernet port, an HD webcam, one USB 3.0 port, an HDMI output and an integrated 60Wh battery. Adjacent to the keyboard there is an area called Switchblade User Interface, which is comprised of 10 dynamic adaptive tactile keys for easier access of game commands, and an LCD screen that can show game information. MSI has announced the availability of the X460 and X460DX laptops, which were previously launched in early July. Both units are part of MSI’s X-Slim Series and come with a 14-inch display (1366 x 768) and an Intel processor based on the Sandy Bridge architecture. The X460 is equipped with a Core i7-2630QM (2 GHz) CPU; Intel HD 3000 integrated video; a 750 GB hard drive; support for WiDi (Wireless Display) 2.0, a technology that enables users to connect their laptops to any TV set using standard Wi-Fi; and Windows 7 Professional 64-bit operating system pre-installed. The X460DX is equipped with a Core i3-2310M (2.1 GHz) or a Core i5-2410M (2.3 GHz) CPU, a GeForce GT 540M 1GB video card, a 500 GB hard drive, and Windows 7 Premium 64-bit operating system pre-installed. They share the same set of features such as up to 6 GB of DDR3 memory, Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0, a 1.3 megapixel webcam, a DVD writer, two USB 3.0 ports, a six-cell battery providing up to eight hours of autonomy, and VGA and HDMI video outputs. Panasonic has announced the newest member of their Toughbook Tablet PC product family, the Toughbook CF-H2. This tablet is a heavy-duty product, ideal for users who work in extreme environments. It is resistant to drops, vibrations, cold, dust, heat, salt fog, moisture, gunfire, and humidity. It can easily survive falls of up to 6 feet (1.82 m), besides being water- and dustproof. To create a 3D effect without 3D glasses, the left eye needs to see a slightly different perspective from the right eye. And that’s exactly how Toshiba’s Qosmio F750 works, producing simultaneously two images of slightly differing perspectives individually to the left and right eye, which creates the 3D effect. ASUS is another company trying to join iPad’s bandwagon, with its Eee Pad. During this Computex, they displayed two models that actually bring something new to the table, the Eee Pad Transformer (TF101) and the Eee Pad Slider (SL101). The Eee Pad Transformer can be transformed into a netbook computer by the addition of an optional detachable keyboard. It runs Google’s Android 3.1 (Honeycomb) operating system supporting Adobe Flash 10.3 and has a 178-degree viewing angle display. The Eee Pad Slider, on the other hand, has a “hidden” physical keyboard underneath it, which can be slid out to be used for typing.
